Extra funding for small firms
SMALL businesses are to benefit from extra funding to help them recruit management apprentices during the economic downturn.
The businesses will be able to access a 2,000 financial incentive to recruit Scotland's future managers.
The initiative – which is part of the Scottish Government's 'Invest in an Apprentice' scheme – is supported by the European Social Fund and is open to businesses who take on a new or existing member of staff as a management apprentice.
Announcing the latest strand of the scheme at Grant Westfield Ltd in Edinburgh yesterday , Education Secretary Fiona Hyslop said: "Scotland now has the most comprehensive package of offers available for Management Apprentices in the UK."
