OVER 1500 children have been evacuated from three schools in East Renfrewshire following an apparent bomb scare.

Pupils have been evacuated from St Luke’s High School, Barrhead High School and St Mark’s Primary School in the area.

Emergency services were called to all three sites and pupils are being kept at nearby Cowan Park in Barrhead.

An East Renfrewshire Council spokeswoman confirmed all pupils are safe and well.

A spokesman for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: “The SAS special operations team is currently in attendance.”
