E-newsletter to keep parents up to date with schools' activities

PARENTS of children in Edinburgh are to be kept up to date with what's going on in their schools in an e-newsletter being launched today.

The first of its kind in Scotland, the newsletter will give tens of thousands of parents a more direct line of communication between them and the city's schools.

The first issue of Families and Children e-Newsletter (FACe) will feature news about a new school opening, how to register a child at school and a survey on school meals. Parents will have the option of subscribing to the free e-newsletter, which will be produced five times a year, or accessing it from website links.

Councillor Marilyne MacLaren, the city's education leader, said: "I believe that this e-newsletter is the first of its kind in Scotland, which is very exciting."
