Drama student scoops prize
A CITY drama student has been recognised for her outstanding work by one of Edinburgh's best known theatres.
Rosie Duncan, a second-year student at Queen Margaret University, was the top performing student in her year and was presented with the Playhouse Scholar prize and a cheque for 1500.
Martin Lawlor, stewardship officer at the university who set up the scholarship, said: "The award is presented to a second-year student based on their performance in their first year.
"They receive this money every year for the rest of their course – so the award actually totals 4500.
"We are extremely grateful to the Playhouse for helping us create this award."
Miss Duncan added: "The recognition has seen my confidence in my ability soar. It is wonderful that my joy in working hard at something I am fascinated in has rewarded me in this way."
