City scientist makes NOISE for campaign
A RESEARCH scientist from Edinburgh has been selected to front a national campaign to raise awareness of the impact that science, engineering and maths have on our everyday lives.
Prashant Valluri, 33, will be spreading the word about the research he is involved in as part of an initiative led by NOISE – New Outlooks in Science and Engineering.
Mr Valluri is a lecturer in chemical engineering at Edinburgh University and is researching complex fluid dynamics encountered in industry and the human body.
The findings of his research could be used to better our understanding of problems in energy, environment and healthcare.
Mr Valluri said: "I've always been passionate about science, so having the opportunity to spread the word about the importance of my research to people who might otherwise not have heard about it is fantastic.
"It's really important that the UK maintains its position as a world leader."
