City research is world-leading
MORE than 1000 researchers at Edinburgh University have been deemed world-leading in a UK-wide survey.
The 2008 UK Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) – which assesses the quality of research in universities across the UK – shows that 63 per cent of the university's research activity is in the highest categories.
Edinburgh University's submission was amongst the largest and most comprehensive in the country, with a total of 1684 people having their research assessed.
Napier University saw significant improvement in its results in comparison with its performance in the last exercise back in 2001.
Napier's results show that 21 per cent of submitted research is rated as being either internationally excellent or world-leading, 43 per cent is recognised internationally and 30 per cent is recognised nationally.
