Childrens’ progress to be studied in Scotland

A SUBJECT-BY-SUBJECT analysis of how children in Scotland are progressing in education from three to 18 has been launched.

The first two web-based Curriculum Impact reports compiled by Education Scotland focus on science and social studies with other subjects areas to follow.

The reviews, using evidence gathered by HM Inspectors, and including the views of parents, pupils and teachers, will be refreshed periodically to highlight areas in need of improvement and identify innovative ideas.

Dr Bill Maxwell, chief executive of Education Scotland, said: “The reports are not an end in themselves, but rather we want them to be the start of a process of professional dialogue about how we take forward the issues raised in them.”
