Children get close to nature

CHILDREN have been swapping their classroom for woodland as part of an initiative to teach them about the great outdoors.

Nursery pupils at Cockenzie Primary School in East Lothian have been getting close to nature to learn about colour, shape, sound and personal safety through spending time at "forest school".

Nursery teacher Issi Baxter said: "In today's digital age when so many children lead an inactive life style and have little connection with the natural world, I feel it is of vital importance to get children outdoors every day."
