Activists' fury as Dawe fails to show for surgery
YOUNG campaigners fighting to save Drumbrae Primary from closure were left disappointed after turning up to council leader Jenny Dawe's monthly surgery only to find she wasn't there.
The teenagers – former pupils of Drumbrae – had planned to speak to Councillor Dawe over the city's proposals to close the school, along with three others.
Despite her surgery being advertised as taking place on the first Wednesday of every month during term time, it was not held this week as the school holidays were just about to start.
Karen Keil, of the Save Drumbrae campaign group, said the teenagers had been left disappointed.
She said: "They rehearsed what they were going to say and put a lot of work into it.
"They were furious when they got there and the school was closed up
"If the surgery wasn't going to take place, there should have been some prior notice."
