ONE of Aberdeenshire’s largest secondaries was forced to close its doors to pupils and staff today because of a power cut.
The council announced shortly before lunchtime that staff and pupils at Inverurie Academy were being sent home after the school was left operating on only limited emergency power.
A council spokesman said: “Owing to the academy not having any power at present, and with no indication of when it will be restored, we are running on limited emergency power and will unfortunately having to close for health and safety reasons. All bus pupils are currently being dismissed to their bus as it arrives and we anticipate all buses will be en route home by 12.20p.m. Town pupils will be released at approximately 12 noon. “
