BROADCASTER Jon Snow shows off the green socks he wore for his red-letter day, after receiving an honorary degree from Edinburgh University.

He was awarded a doctor honoris causa at the ceremony in the McEwan Hall. Snow, who has been at Channel 4 News since 1989, started out in 1983 as ITN’s Washington correspondent.
