20 Lothians pupils given wrong results

TWENTY pupils in the Lothians were given incorrect exam results this year, it has emerged.

The Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) has revealed that ten schools across the Lothians were involved, with 16 pupils affected in Edinburgh alone.

It comes after the Evening News revealed in October ten pupils at Leith Academy were given the wrong results due to a "misprint".

The marks they received in August all showed that the sixth-year pupils either failed or got low marks in their maths exam – but, in fact, they passed with flying colours.

The pupils sitting the Intermediate 2 maths exam in May had all expected to do well, and were shocked to discover they had been given either a "no award" or a C.

Bosses at the SQA admitted their blunder and issued new certificates to the pupils at Leith Academy. They also apologised to the students for the "administrative mistakes".
