£54m campus project shapes up well
JEWEL and Esk's £54 million redevelopment project is beginning to take shape, with the first of the new buildings going up across two campus locations.
Known as the e:volve project, the scheme is Scotland's largest college redevelopment.
It will see the college's existing buildings replaced with two new purpose-built centres – the Eskbank Campus and Milton Road Campus in Edinburgh – which are due to open for students by October this year.
During a recent visit to the College's Milton Road campus, the project's board members saw how the work was progressing.
Project builders, Miller Construction guided the board members around the site to show them the new campus's exterior profile as well as the interior layout.
College Principal Howard McKenzie said: "The project is not only a major step in the college's growth but a huge project for the communities we serve and also further education facilities in general across Scotland."
The new Midlothian Campus will house the Faculty of Technology, which provides specialist construction and oil and gas related courses, as well as extensive learning and teaching facilities for health and social care, childcare, computing and business studies.
