Edinburgh Olympic medal winner's family in hospital after Great Wall of China lightning strike
THE FAMILY of Olympic medal winner David Florence have been treated in a Chinese clinic after being caught up in a lightning storm on the country's Great Wall.
The canoeist's parents, George and Jill, were visiting the famous attraction along with children Fraser and Lyndsay when they had to take refuge from the storm.
Miriam Wilkens, a spokeswoman for the Great British Olympic team, said the family members suffered "cuts and bruises" after lightning struck a tower on the wall.
The Edinburgh canoeist, who took silver medal in the men's slalom event earlier in the week, was not with his family when the incident occurred earlier on today.
