Edinburgh Council claims there's gain from Spain
A COUNCILLOR and a council official from Edinburgh are set to attend a conference on city economies in Spain.
Edinburgh has been sending representatives to the annual Eurocities annual general meeting and conference - attended by 140 cities from 36 European countries - since 1991.
Council officials have asked for approval to spend around 1560 on the conference fee, travel and accommodation costs of sending two representatives to this November's event, in Zaragoza.
The two representatives would fly to Madrid then travel to Zaragoza by high-speed rail.
The theme of this year's conference is 'Successful cities: vision and identity' and it will look at how cities can create a strong identity and promote themselves nationally and internationally.
Jim Inch, director of the corporate services department, said: "The network provides a strong voice for cities."
