Dylan prints, my friend, are hanging in Princes Square
A SCOTTISH gallery is to host a world exclusive exhibition of art by music legend Bob Dylan.
The series, based on images created by the singer-songwriter while he was on the road from 1989 to 1992, will be shown at the Castle Galleries in Glasgow's Princes Square on Saturday.
The first series of Dylan's critically acclaimed Drawn Blank prints
show a life dominated by the trudge of endless tours, such as hotel interiors and motel swimming pools, with tranquillity represented by watercolours of sunflowers and a bicycle.
All are rendered in a bold, chunky style. It is understood that the value of the first collection has already doubled.
Washington Green Fine Art Publishing managing director Glyn Washington, who is behind the new series, said: "The public's reaction to both his latest album and last year's art collection prove Dylan is going through one of his zeitgeist periods.
"He is not only bringing older fans with him on his journey, but is pulling a whole new generation on board."
The hand-signed series, which will go on sale to the public, is limited to 295 worldwide.
Claire Wilkinson, marketing manager for Princes Square, said: "For Castle Galleries to be chosen as the location for the premiere of Bob Dylan's new images is fantastic.
"We are anticipating that they will attract a lot of attention, as our customers have shown interest in a number of recent artist-related events that we've held.
"We recently partnered with contemporary artist Sandy Smith to create the next stage of our Reposition installation, which was part of this year's first Glasgow Galleries Weekend."
