Drumlanrig: Go on Alex, be a sport and back Team GB
Alex Salmond: Praying for Team GB success?
WITH Wimbledon and the Scottish Open golf, it has been a bit of a sporting summer for Alex Salmond. What’s more, this week he is off to the opening ceremony of the Olympics in London.
The Scottish Government has also released a line saying that the First Minister and the Sports Minister Shona Robison will attend other 2014 events in London “where they will support Scottish athletes”.
Just Scottish athletes? If only they took the more mature approach of their SNP colleague Pete Wishart MP (above), who will be supporting all of Team GB.
“We are right behind our athletes and Team GB,” Wishart told Drumlanrig. “Team GB is just as much my team as someone in the southern shires of England. I will be supporting it and hoping it secures any number of medals.”
Macintosh’s toddler sows Twitter confusion
Heard the one about the tweeting toddler? Twitter followers of Ken Macintosh were somewhat surprised to find the Labour MSP tweeting YouTube clips of Peppa Pig. The politician himself was mystified by the rogue tweets, until he spoke to his two-year-old daughter Ruth.
To explain the abuse of his Twitter account, he has now posted a video of Ruth confessing to getting hold of Daddy’s phone and tweeting her favourite children’s character.
Annabel Ewing slips up in the mud
We know it has been a miserable summer and the rain-lashed scenes at T in the Park at Balado earlier this month looked pretty distressing. But is there really any need for Annabel Ewing, the SNP politician, to sign off her email to MPs, MSPs and local journalists in Dunfermline as “MSP for Mud Scotland and Fife”?
Yes-men overstate Obama’s campaign cry
The “Better Together” campaign to save the United Kingdom is rather mischievously claiming Barack Obama as one of their own.
Their belief that the US president has come out in favour of a “No” vote is based on an Obama campaign tweet that said: “We know there are some things we do better together. That we rise or fall as one nation and as one people.”
