Drop in hospital stays
THE average stay in a Lothians hospital has fallen by almost a day in the last four years.
Latest figures have shown that inpatients remain for around 5.2 days, less than the six days in 2004, with the improvement generally credited to advances in medicine and surgery.
It means Lothians patients wait slightly less time in a ward than other health boards around Scotland.
