Drivers fined for airport 'dodgem' game

THE drivers of two baggage tugs, who drove round in circles on an aircraft stand at Edinburgh Airport and deliberately collided with each other's vehicles, have each been fined £1,250.

At Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterday, Sheriff Derrick McIntyre, found the two men guilty of dangerous driving and slammed them for their "dodgem-type behaviour".

Kris Ralton, 24, of Coxfield, Edinburgh, and Gary Crawford, 28, of Morpeth, Northumberland, both denied driving the tugs dangerously on the stand on 9 February, 2008, and deliberately colliding with each other.

During the trial, Sheriff McIntyre heard that they played "cat and mouse" with each other as they drove round in circles while waiting for an aircraft to land.

The sheriff said their actions had been potentially hazardous and dangerous.
