Drink-driving figures hailed
LOTHIANS SNP MSP Shirley-Anne Somerville has welcomed a drop in the number of people arrested for drink-driving.
Figures showed 93 motorists were arrested in a festive crackdown by Lothian and Borders Police on drink and drug-driving – about a third down on the 133 recorded during the festive period last year.
Ms Somerville said: "Drink-driving continues to be a major cause of deaths and injuries on the roads. This reduction in arrests is obviously great news for Edinburgh."
She said every arrest was one too many and repeated calls for the drink-driving limit to be reduced.
