Dog dies in freak accident
A PET was electrocuted as it cocked its leg against a faulty lamppost.
The black labrador broke free from his lead while being walked by his owner and her four-year-old daughter in Gourock, Inverclyde. It was electrocuted as it urinated against a lamppost.
A passer-by with a volt meter confirmed the lamppost was live, as was another lamppost connected to a school fence.
Inverclyde Council is investigating the incident.
A spokesman said: "We have a subcontractor who maintains the street lighting and we are investigating what happened.
"Subcontractors have isolated the supply and are checking to find the fault."
