Doctor Who hopes for monster Scots audience

DOCTOR Who, the stage show, will come to Scotland in October as part of a nine-city UK tour, the BBC announced yesterday.

The arena show, which will play at the SECC in Glasgow, marks the latest touring adaptation of a BBC television hit, on the heels of live versions of Strictly Come Dancing and Top Gear.

While the show will boast special effects, and video scenes shot with the new Doctor, Matt Smith, it will not have live performances by him or his co- stars, who include Scot Karen Gillan.

It was developed with Doctor Who's near legendary producer Steven Moffat, who, with actor David Tennant was credited with reviving the long-lived brand.

It will boast a live orchestra playing music by composer Murray Gold and stage battles with the likes of the Daleks and the Cybermen.

Murray Gold said: "The live element always adds something extra, but these will also be brand new arrangements for a new band of very talented musicians. It's very exciting."

Steven Moffat said: "This is everything I ever wanted since I was 11. A live show, with all the coolest Doctor Who monsters, a proper story, and brand new screen material."
