Disputed homes plan is passed

PLANS to build up to 300 new houses in the Cairngorms National Park were approved yesterday despite local objections.

The park authority's planning committee approved outline permission for the proposals from Davall Developments for the project in Kingussie, which will be phased over 15 years.

Kingussie and Vicinity Community Council objected to the scale of the plans and said the number of houses could double the size of the town.

It said the development was inappropriate. Environmentalists said the site may be used by wildcats and other rare species.
