Diseases from overseas rife
MORE than three people a week are bringing infectious diseases into the Lothians from abroad, figures have shown.
In the last 18 months a range of illnesses came to the area, although the overwhelming number are related to food poisoning.
The statistics, released through Freedom of Information, show that campylobacter – another variation of food poisoning also featured highly, as did bacillary dysentery, a water-borne disease usually found in developing countries.
