Discussion on tailored drugs for patients
TAILORING drugs to the personal needs of elderly patients is the subject of a conference taking place in the Capital.
The Royal Society of Edinburgh will host the event bringing together health experts and informed members of the public to discuss the issue.
Although the health of over-65s has never been better, they still account for half the national spend on NHS hospitals.
In addition, more people are reaching 85 and over, and healthcare needs to modify to adjust to the change in demographics.
The society said: "The objective of this conference is to discuss the rationale behind the development of new drugs and devices for this group and tailoring them to the needs of the individual patient."
Various sessions will take place at the Society on George St on April 17. For more information visit www.royalsoced.org.uk or phone 0131-240 2780.
