Diana jury consider verdict
THE jury investigating the deaths of Diana, Princess of Wales and Dodi Fayed yesterday completed their first day of deliberations.
The panel of six women and five men are considering whether the crash was manslaughter, an accident or unexplained. But, on the orders of the coroner, they cannot return a verdict which actively supports any of the murder conspiracy theories which have surrounded the tragedy for ten years. Mohamed al-Fayed has accused the Duke of Edinburgh and MI6 of staging the crash to kill the couple to stop them marrying.
But even his own legal team concede they do not have evidence to support such a conclusion. Diana and Dodi were killed alongside driver Henri Paul when the Mercedes they were travelling in crashed into a pillar in the Alma underpass in the early hours of August 31, 1997.
