Diabetes hits Asians harder
SCOTS Asians with diabetes are more likely to have complications than other Scots, despite receiving the same medical care, research shows.
The study found that people of South Asian descent – those from India, Bangladesh and Pakistan – can be four times more likely to get diabetes than other Scottish people and are more likely to have eye complications and higher blood sugar levels.
