Denise tackles triathlon task after husband lost leg

THE wife of a man who lost his lower leg in a motorcycling accident two years ago is to take part in a charity triathlon.

Denise Tracey is to take part in the event in June and has a fundraising target of 6500. The Evening News revealed earlier this week how husband Jerry, 51, had become the first person in the Lothians to be fitted with a new style of artificial foot which allowed him to regain his hobby of hillwalking.

Now Mrs Tracey, 43, a product specialist from West Calder, has chosen to donate the raised cash to the 500 Miles charity.

She said of the fundraising target, which will fund a post for one prosthetics student for a year: "It seems ambitious but I hope I can get there."
