Deacon Blue to headline Glasgow Hogmanay party
DEACON Blue are to headline Glasgow's Hogmanay celebrations, organisers said today.
The band, who had a string of hits throughout the eighties, will join up-and-coming acts Tommy Reilly and Bahookie in the city's George Square.
Frontman Ricky Ross said: "We are very proud to be the headline act at this year's Hogmanay in George Square.
"Glasgow is our home town and we have not played a full show in the city for over a year. This will be a very special night which we are all looking forward to."
Thousands of revellers are expected to descend on the city centre to see in 2010.
The night will be hosted by Real Radio's Paul Harper, Cat Harvey and Steve McKenna.
Lord Provost of Glasgow Bob Winter said Deacon Blue were "one of the most exciting live bands today".
"I know they will delight the thousands who look forward to Glasgow's Hogmanay as the ultimate way to welcome in the new year," he said.
"The crowd, music and wonderful atmosphere make it the best night of the year, a celebration which promises to be a vibrant showcase for the city over the festive period."
