Treat for supercar lovers at vanity plate auction

The DVLA are holding a live auction of personalised number plates next week with a host of supercar-related lots up for grabs.

Amongst the 1,600 registration numbers on offer at the three-day event are 488FER, 997 RS, and 570 S - the last of which would go perfectly with the soon-to-be-launched McLaren 570 S.

At last year’s sale, the Porsche-related registration 993 RS was sold for a remarkable £30,000. This is more than the cost of a new Ford Fiesta, 2015’s top-selling car in the UK, which can be bought from around £10,145.

The auction begins on 22 July at Mercedes-Benz World in Surrey.
