Data group loses police payroll details
PAYROLL details of 49 police officers and other staff have been lost by a data service provider, police said last night. The data contains personal details.
Strathclyde Police said the data appeared to have been misplaced through an administrative error by the data service provider, Document Outsourcing Ltd, which is based in Bellshill, North Lanarkshire.
It does not appear to have been mislaid in transit.
Police would not specify what format the data was in, but said specialist equipment would be needed to access it.
Officers were told on Wednesday that the data had been misplaced.
Deputy Chief Constable Neil Richardson said: "We are seeking a full explanation."
