Darling 'will be voted out in election'
A SENIOR Labour source has claimed that Alistair Darling will be voted out by his constituents at the next general election if he is not deselected first.
The Chancellor's expenses claims came under scrutiny for a second time yesterday after it was revealed he claimed back 1,400 of public money for an accountant to complete his tax returns.
It was previously revealed that the MP for Edinburgh South West has "flipped" his second home four times in as many years.
The source reportedly said: "I am amazed he is still in government. He should be deselected. Even if his local party is willing to forgive him, I don't think his constituents will. I can't see him surviving the general election."
But Labour group leader at Edinburgh City Council, Andrew Burns said there was "no prospect of him not being the Labour candidate at the next election".
