London-based Ocean Outdoor, which operates in the UK and the Netherlands, has netted the long-term contract with City Property (Glasgow) Investments LLP, working in partnership with Glasgow City Council, to redevelop and introduce new screens.

The Glasgow contract is for “selected premium” locations, and Ocean won “a significant number of the locations offered, further cementing the company’s position as the leading Scottish player in super premium roadside and urban screens powered by new and emerging responsive technology”, said the firm.

Its locations include Piccadilly Circus and the Imax at Waterloo as well as several in Glasgow such as Great Western Road and St Enoch, and at Edinburgh Airport.

The firm, whose readmission to trading on the London Stock Exchange completed on 10 January, also unveiled a trading update, flagging first-quarter group revenue up 14 per cent to £18.6 million. It said Ocean Scotland performed “well”, assisted by the roll-out of the group’s roadside digital conversion programme, including the completion of four large-format supersize digital screens.

Boss Tim Bleakley hailed an “encouraging” start to 2019. “The Glasgow contract is another major win… and allows us to progress our ambition of developing ‘digital cities for digital citizens’. This proposition will now be rolled out to Scotland’s biggest urban economy, creating commercial value for Glasgow City Council and improving engagement with its citizens.”
