Cyclist, 9, dies after accident with car
A BOY aged nine lost his fight for life yesterday after being knocked off his bicycle by a car.
Wesley Clark was riding beside his local park in Stonehaven, when he was struck by a Mazda 3 on Tuesday night.
He was taken by ambulance to the Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital to be treated for serious head injuries.
But he was in need of more specialist care and was transferred to hospital in Edinburgh on Wednesday morning when his condition deteriorated.
His mother and father, Marie and Billy, rushed to his bedside in the hope he would recover.
But it was announced last night that he had died at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh.
A Grampian Police spokesman said: "Inquiries are still ongoing."
The 30-year-old driver of the car involved was treated for shock after the incident. She was released following treatment, and no-one has been charged.
Wesley is survived by his parents, brother William, 20, and sister Lisa, 4.
