Currency plan gains interest
PLANS to introduce a new local currency for Edinburgh have been approved, despite concerns about forgeries.
Councillors on the city’s economic development committee agreed to ask city development director Dave Anderson to consider how best to fit a pilot local currency into the town centre action plan. The project will be led by the Transition Edinburgh group.
Planning leader Jim Lowrie had raised concerns about the potential for counterfeiting.
