Culture heads city’s agenda

PLANS have been unveiled for the first ever Edinburgh International Culture Summit 2012.

Culture ministers from around 40 nations will gather in Edinburgh on August 13 and 14 for the summit, a collaboration between the Scottish Government, the UK Government, the British Council and the Edinburgh International Festival.

The programme begins with Scots Makar Liz Lochhead, who will showcase Scottish
culture with a reading from Robert Burns’ iconic poem A Man’s A Man For A’ That, before young singers of the National Youth Choir of Scotland perform.
