CSA unveils its improved set of results
MORE than 3600 children in Edinburgh are now benefiting from child maintenance payments, according to the latest figures.
The Child Support Agency (CSA) collected just over 4.6 million in the Capital in the year April 2007 to March 2008, up 86,000 on the previous 12 months.
Across Scotland, the CSA collected or arranged a record 1 billion in 2007/08. Since March 2005, when it was overhauled, the body has collected an extra 232m in Scotland, supporting an extra 11,400 youngsters.
In West Lothian in 2007/08, 3.7m was collected, supporting 2530 children. In Midlothian, the figure was 1.6m supporting 1180 children, and in East Lothian 1.3m and 880 children.
CSA Minister James Plaskitt said: "It is excellent news that we are getting more money to more children in Scotland."
