IT’S quickly developed a reputation as the Capital’s quirkiest bakery – and now it has branched out into literature.

Cuckoo’s Bakery, in Dundas Street, is best known for a wide variety of creative cupcakes and plans to open a second store in 2013.

But for now, it’s expanding into Waterstone’s, with the book giant set to sell Cuckoo’s homemade cupcakes at its Princes Street branch.

Sleigh us with some witty seasonal addresses

JUST a few days from now, Santa will be packing up his sacks and pointing his satnav towards Edinburgh.

But he shouldn’t have too much trouble finding his way around the Capital’s streets since several addresses have a festive flavour.

The Royal Mail tells us that postman Keith Mason enjoyed a chuckle to himself while pushing cards and boxes through doors in Bethlehem Way while on his rounds in Lochend last week.

Guffaws can also be heard from posties working the beats in Festival Square and, of course, Restalrig’s Sleigh Gardens.

Add chili choc to your date

IF you’re reading this, there’s a fair chance the world hasn’t come to an end, as the Mayans apparently predicted it would.

The day isn’t over, so who knows what kinds of doomsday scenarios will threaten us as the evening goes on.

But rather than fork out for a one-way ticket to the Bugarach mountain in France, where some have gathered in the hope aliens will save them from the cataclysm, TOTT prefers to follow the advice of the Edinburgh Eye blog.

Food for thought

HERE’S some food for thought while your mouth waters at the prospect of turkey, gravy, potatoes and Brussel sprouts.

By the end of the year, Britons will have gobbled up 89,000 tonnes of turkey. Sales of frozen potatoes are up 6.3 per cent on last year. Around 25 per cent of Christmas dinner eaters desire more interesting flavours of gravy. And 18 per cent finish off the marvellous meal with a round of cheese.
