Councillors declare intent to be re-elected to seats
TWO current Conservative city councillors have announced they will fight to be re-elected in their existing seats.
Jason Rust and Elaine Aitken have been unanimously reselected to stand in the Colinton/Fairmilehead ward at next year's council elections.
The ward, which stretches from Bonaly to Buckstone and includes Colinton Mains, Oxgangs and Swanston, has proven to be something of a Conservative stronghold and it had the highest "first preference" Tory vote in the whole of Scotland at the 2007 local elections.
Councillor Rust, who is also the economic development spokesman for the Conservative group on the city council, said: "We will be working hard over the coming months to hold this council administration to account and to again return two Conservative councillors to represent the interests of local residents."
