DETECTIVES believe “one elusive phone call” will provide them with a crucial breakthrough in the hunt for the killer of a woman whose body was found in a shallow grave on Corstorphine Hill.

Police also released fresh information about the victim, who is yet to be identified, revealing she was about 5ft 2ins tall and was wearing four rings.

They have already appealed for information about two of the rings – one in the shape of a daisy and the other of a love heart – which are both made of gold and are set with precious stones.

The woman was believed to have been aged between 32 and 60 and had extensive cosmetic work, in the form of veneers, carried out on her teeth. She was white, slim and of medium build.

Detective Chief Inspector Keith Hardie, who is leading the inquiry, explained: “I am still awaiting that one elusive phone call which will provide the vital clue which will assist us.”
