Communities warming to green energy
THE growing interest in communities developing renewable energy projects will be outlined at a conference this month.
More than 150 delegates are expected to attend the event in Stirling University on 26 and 27 August, including those that have already set up green schemes and others with development plans.
Part of the discussion will focus on the Communities And Renewable Energy Scheme (CARES) from the Scottish Government. CARES replaced the previous Scottish Community and Householder Renewables Initiative in April, boosting the maximum grant levels by 50 per cent. To date, CES and its predecessor, Highlands and Islands Community Energy Company, have delivered 567 community energy projects.
