Committee buzzing over ‘Mosquito’ devices

THE community safety minister is being called before a committee of MSPs frustrated with a lack of action to ban a “sonic assault weapon” which specifically targets young people.

The controversial Mosquito device emits a high-frequency sound normally audible only to under-25s in an attempt to stop them congregating in areas such as shopping centres.

Members of the public petitions committee backed calls by Scottish Youth Parliament member Andrew Deans to summon Roseanna Cunningham to discuss the matter.
