Comedy review: Clean as possible comedy show
THE CLEAN (AS POSSIBLE) COMEDY SHOW
THE LOT (VENUE 24)
THIS is a great show and a lesson to us all who take swearing and rudery in comedy for granted. Andy Kind – well named – introduces three comics from the Fringe who have agreed to clean up their acts.
The guys cope with the mixed audience really well. Making everyone in a room, where the ages range from six to over 60, laugh out loud, is pretty good going and each of the nicely deadpan Mike Newall, the assured Tony Vino and the gloriously pedantic James Sherwood managed it.
Kind is a terrific MC, friendly without being patronising to the kids or alarming the parents. Newall is sweetly nervous but funny, and Sherwood is quite brilliant.
The line-up changes each day, but I get the feeling they don't get many misses here. It is all Fairtrade sponsored, and the whole package is only a fiver.
