College fashion students graduate to the catwalk
GRADUATING students from the College of Art will be showing off their work at a fashion show this week.
Models representing the fashion, performance costume and textiles course will be taking to the catwalk show in the College's Sculpture Court in Lauriston Place.
The show will open to the public at 6.30pm on Wednesday, with further performances at 9pm, and on Friday, at 7pm and 9pm.
Culture Minister Linda Fabiani, who is to attend the event, said: "Edinburgh College of Art's Fashion Show is a fantastic platform to promote talented, up-and-coming fashion and textiles designers.
"The textiles sector is hugely important to Scotland, employing 38,000 people and generating over 2 billion per year.
"It is therefore extremely exciting to see this new generation of innovative, young designers building on Scotland's reputation for design excellence."
Robert Gillan, associate head of the School of Design at Edinburgh College of Art, added: "This year's fashion show promises to be one of the best ever with a particularly strong final year group. The tailoring project in particular has been beautifully achieved."
