Coffee advert censured for claims over its benefits

THE British Coffee Association (BCA) was reprimanded today for an advert which claimed coffee could alleviate cold symptoms and increase stamina before a gym workout.

The advert was also criticised for comparing the benefits of "moderate coffee consumption", which it described as four to five cups a day, to those of eating five portions of fruit and veg.

And the BCA was further censured for recommending coffee with an ibuprofen pill to "increase the painkilling effect".
