Clinton and Obama in secret talks to unite Democrats
HILLARY CLINTON and presidential nominee-to-be Barack Obama held a surprise, private meeting to discuss uniting the Democratic Party.
"Senator Clinton and Senator Obama met and had a productive discussion about the important work that needs to be done to succeed in November," their campaigns said in a joint statement.
Pressure is mounting for Mr Obama to invite Mrs Clinton, who will officially drop out of the candidacy race tomorrow, to become his running mate for his forthcoming battle with Republican nominee-in-waiting, John McCain but the statement included no further details of the pair's talks.
Robert Gibbs, an Obama spokesman, would not say where the former rivals met, except that it was not at Mrs Clinton's home in Washington, as had been widely reported.
Mr Obama said he will not be rushed into a decision on choosing a vice president.
