Climate change officials cool on air-con turn-off
THE government department leading the fight against climate change has abandoned an attempt to switch off the air-conditioning in its Whitehall office building to save energy and cut emissions.
The Department for Energy and Climate Change, whose central London offices were awarded a lowest level "G" energy efficiency rating, said it wanted to reduce emissions by 10 per cent by March next year.
During the summer they decided to turn off the air-conditioning and "open the windows" but abandoned the scheme because of noise and dust from work on a nearby building.
