Classic stamps and cards draw collectors

FAMOUS stamps and postcards from around the world, from Penny Blacks to Donald McGill classics, are going on display in Edinburgh on Saturday afternoon.

Lothian Postcard Club, Edinburgh Stamp Group, Edinburgh Philatelic Society and the Scottish Philatelic Society will host an event in St John's Church Hall.

Stamp enthusiast Ian Johnstone said: "The great thing about collecting is that it doesn't have to cost much at all.

"I started collecting as a young boy and learned a lot about history and geography from it, but it seems to be a diminishing hobby, which is such a shame."
