Clarity plea over cost of axing trams
TRAM bosses have been urged to "come clean" over how they arrived at the cost of cancelling the project.
Leaked figures released ahead of a key meeting on the future of the scheme last month showed that ending the troubled project would cost 750 million, while continuing to St Andrew Square would cost 773m.
However, doubts were raised about the cancellation figure and now Jim Eadie, SNP MSP for Edinburgh Southern, has demanded "clarity".
Mr Eadie said: "On June 30, Edinburgh City Council decided to implement a very different project to what was originally agreed. A new project requires a new business case, but as yet we've seen nothing.
"We need clarity over the 750m figure and how it was calculated. Currently, no-one seems to have the answer to any of these questions.
"We require greater financial transparency in this project."
