City vaults for ghostly vigil on Hallowe'en
SPIRITUAL mediums are to escort 13 brave members of the public into one of Edinburgh's most haunted places for an overnight vigil on Hallowe'en.
Organisers hope to gain a better insight into the vaults under the city in the Old Town, which date back to 1788, by tuning in to the spirit world.
Medium Ewan Irvine is one of two spiritual guides who will be at the ghostly event which starts just before midnight on October 31.
Mr Irvine said: "Basically, a medium is a person who can link with those who have passed over. Basically we are the telephone.
"You have the listener who is still here in this material world and the speaker who has passed over to the other side. We are simply the telephone which picks up the signal and gives it to the listener."
He added: "On Hallowe'en, we hope to pick up on some of the people who may still linger in the vaults and who will come through to tell us a bit about themselves and their association with the vaults."
